Erosion of liberty in the United States
While monks, nuns, and lay people in Tibet writhe in pain and die for the crime of carrying a photo of a religious leader, people in the United States passively “pursue [or are pursued by?] their lifestyles” — while their government and commercialism (the real power) herds them like sheep
- civil liberties — who cares?
- privacy — who cares?
There is some fundamental human, even animal, need for privacy, for protection of the individual, that if breached is very detrimental, and constitutes evil on the part of the one who violates it.
